Who We Are

Two leaders have kept Brains at Work going with the support and genius of staff and partners. Nancy Maresh and Judith Blair continue as prime movers and are the key presenters.

Nancy Maresh is Founder and Creative Director of Brains at Work. For over 30 years, Nancy has been a leader in accelerating adult workplace learning. Her lifetime commitment to the joy of learning and the wonder of brain power continues through workshops, writing and program design.

Nancy Maresh, Founder and Creative Director of Brains at Work took on a national profile as a kid, racing on the US Ski Team. The rest of her life has been calm in comparison:

  • Created a one day seminar that taught a semester of college accounting in one day
  • The Accounting Game™ put her on the front cover of the Wall Street Journal
  • Designer of custom curricula utilizing principles of Accelerated Learning for the workplace; a breakthrough to ADDIE and ISD approaches
  • Author of opening chapter of ASTD Field Book
  • Keynoter and presenter for Influent Technologies, NICSA, ASTD and Training Magazine

Nancy trained thousands of non-financial managers as to the framework and fun (yes, fun) of Accounting. Her seminar created a game; building financial statements while rocking out and making money.

Judith Blair is CEO of Brains at Work and Chief Learning Officer for SOLVII: Secrets of Leading Very Important Ideas. She began a long career in Human Resources on a wild animal ranch that provided furry, scaly and flying actors to Hollywood.

Judith Blair, CEO of Brains at Work left university as an “educator on steroids”. Gratefully, there were no jobs available in California at that time. A career in corporate finance and HR replaced teacher of Speech and English. Ambition and curiosity took over:

  • Show business: Arts, entertainment performance & management
  • Community Development and Strategic Planning: Executive Director of Oakland: Sharing the Vision. 2,000 volunteers created 5-year partnerships and actions. Judith won the All America City Award for Oakland in 1993.
  • Joined Nancy Maresh creating financial literacy, training and development programs for corporations and government agencies in 1998.
  • Led Brains at Work services development from instructor-led and classroom workshops through design of web based training, webinars and blended solutions
  • Writer and presenter for leading industry communications; E Learning Guild, marketing associations, Training Magazine and ASTD.

In the 1970's, the first women's rock band kicked off in Colorado. Raw Honey blazed the trail for women's equality one night club at a time. Judith, lead singer and percussionist appears in center.
